Zoomer Z2 - Product Details
By dramatically improving efficiency, swimmers are able to push the limits in their training. The new Zoomer Z2 swim fins are specially designed to improve the effectiveness of one's swim workouts by creating an easier kicking movement. The channel on the bottom of the Zoomer Z2 captures water to provide ideal propulsion for longer distances, while the back ridges strengthen the hamstrings and glutes.
Like the original Zoomer fins, the Zoomer Z2 fins are shorter in length than standard swim fins. They utilize a patented angle and quick response technology to promote a shorter, faster kick that makes the legs work harder while reducing the occurrence of burnout.
"The propulsive surface area of the Z2 is increased by 20%, yet it weighs less than the original Zoomers. This makes the Z2 highly effective and allows for a faster kick at lower amplitude, while creating a truly natural body extension,"
- Dr. Marty Hall, Zoomer Z2 engineer and inventor.
Because the downward kicking movement requires great effort but produces very little propulsion, this high-resistance movement causes the upper leg (quads) to fatigue quickly. Once the quads fatigue, the legs become ineffective. With the Z2, swimmers can concentrate on the up-kick that is actually what is propelling them forward. The unique and streamlined design of the Z2 lets the foot slice down through the water easily, dramatically decreasing the effort required to kick. Z2's are easier to use than original Zoomers due to the incorporation of channel converters that create immediate propulsion and generate greater force in both directions of the kick. Fluid separators are incorporated to greatly reduce drag and channel excess water away from the blade while an evolved power recovery mechanism eliminates lag between the movement of the foot and the tip of the fin. In addition, the new Zoomer Z2 also captures the great conditioning benefits of the down beat movements. The Z2's advanced size and shape provide significant resistance and aid in building leg strength, allowing swimmers to transition the full power of their legs into the water.

"The Z2 model results from years of ongoing field research, and incorporates a series of design characteristics to truly feel like a natural extension of the foot."
- Dr. Marty Hall
More about Training with the Zoomer Z2:
The importance of technique in swimming cannot be underestimated. The legs play a huge factor in creating the ideal body position that will allow for the least amount of hydrodynamic resistance. Through training, it is necessary for the swimmer to focus on the following:
- Improve the technique of the legs
- Increase the amplitude of a stroke with the legs
- Improve the "feeling of the wave" and ride on top of the water
- Increase the power of the breathing system
- Improve glide (making each push-off or turn longer and with the least hydrodynamic resistance)
- Execute the start faster and further
- Improve the quality of the anaerobic process
If the swimmer works to improve all these aspects, even a little bit, the overall effect will be great. Thus, the Z2 fin serves as a great tool for focusing on the legs and overall swimming technique. Aside from their superior movement and comfort, the Zoomer Z2 swim fins provide more propulsion with less effort than any other swim training fin.
By making the kick easier with the Zoomer Z2, unnecessary loads are reduced to the quads and less lactic acid is produced. This means that less oxygen is required and fatigue is postponed. Therefore, the legs stay much more active throughout the entirety of the workout. Active legs equal faster swimming, higher heart rates, better cardiovascular conditioning, and greater decreases in body fat percentage.
