Alexander Studzinski has proven to be one of the toughest racers in open water swimming. His long career at the international level began with a fourth place finish in the 25k at the 2004 FINA World Championships. He solidified his place among the world’s best swimmers when he won the 10k at the 2006 World Cup events in both Singapore and Shàntóu, China. He followed up those performances with a win in 2007 at the 36k FINA Grand Prix Capri-Naples event. In 2008, Studzinski underwent shoulder surgery and has since been fighting his way back to the top of open water. In 2011, Alexander finished third in the Rosario FINA Grand Prix event, which completed a long rehabilitation process. His future aspirations are to finish in the top 3 in the FINA Grand Prix series and to qualify for the World Championships in both the 10k and 25k open water events.
