Hello everyone and sorry for the delay. I meant to get this out yesterday, but better late than never! The USMS Short-Course Nationals in Atlanta was a great experience. Getting to talk with and watch dedicated swimmers around the nation was not only interesting but inspiring. I wish I could live to the age of 93, let alone swim a 1000-yard freestyle event!
My swims went pretty well given my lack of training this past winter and spring. Some previous Olympians were present so it was fun to watch and race against them. Although they made me feel slow, I was energized to still swim my fastest.
Thanks to USMS and Dynamo Swim Club (my age-group club team) for hosting the event, and a special thanks to all those Masters swimmers that stopped by the FINIS booth on deck. We had a great time teaching you about our large assortment of technical training products and generally ‘geeking-out’ on swimming.
Now it’s time for long-course season, where the true swimmers emerge. Good luck to everyone this summer!
