Wednesday’s Swim Report – Swimming From Neptune To Barcelona #BCN2013

Lane 1 - The Jerusalem Post has “US Olympic gold medalist inspired toward aliya.  American swimming champion Garrett Weber- Gale winner of two gold medals at the Beijing Olympics and presently in Israel with the US Maccabiah team, has expressed a desire to make aliya.

Lane 2 - enca posts “Le Clos balances butterflies.  Swimming sensation Chad le Clos admits his new-found status as the world’s leading butterfly swimmer has come with its fair share of nerves ahead of the Fina World Swimming Championships in Barcelona.  “I am a little bit nervous — it is a bit different having a target on my back, and knowing that makes it is a little more stressful than usual,” Le Clos said.”  FINA posts “BCN2013: Chad Le Clos (RSA).

Lane 3 - The Australian posts “Olympic swimmer Scott Miller to stay in cells over drugs charge.  OLYMPIC swimmer Scott Miller will remain in custody after his latest drug charge matter was briefly heard in a Sydney court.  Miller did not appear in Central Local Court on Wednesday, with his lawyer flagging a bail application will be made next week.  Miller has been behind bars since he was arrested last weekend and charged with supplying a prohibited drug of an indictable quality.

Lane 4 - Orange posts “Ledecky ready to roll again.  When Katie Ledecky announced her arrival on the international stage at London 2012, the Aquatics Centre shuddered as the swimming world shook.  It seems only a matter of time before Ledecky breaks Adlington’s 800m world record, set five years ago at the Beijing Olympics.

Lane 5 - Channel News Asia posts “Air hostess row gives China bumpy ride.  A row involving China’s swimming superstar Sun Yang and an air hostess has given the Chinese a turbulent run-up to the world championships in Barcelona.  But a falling-out between Sun and his coach over his love affair with a stewardess has rocked the Asian swimming power as it prepares for Barcelona.  Sun, the tall distance specialist from Zhejiang, rejected coach Zhu Zhigen’s demand that he stop seeing his new girlfriend and concentrate on his swimming instead.”
