Great but some room to improve Review by Nayan

Swimsense is certainly helping me progress my swimming and I love it.

In terms of improving it thought - my biggest gripe is how hard it is to read it as you get later into a swim and your goggles have might have fogged.

More contrast in the display and/or a backlight would be a big help.

Great tool Review by John

This device allows me to really get a focus on my training without having to think about.

It takes some getting use to with regard using it, but once you have it is great.

Superb training tool Review by Anton

Swimsense is a really great training tool.
Easy counting distance, laps, strokes, times etc
It brings a good motivation into training process.

But some quality issue occurs. After half a year and ~160km total distance Swimsense becomes leaky. I suppose it near Start/Stop push button. So, ordered new one.

Motivating Review by Dave

This device is a brilliant way of keeping me motivated and accountable for the effort I put into each swim. It is hard to slack off when you are provided with instant feedback. The watch has significantly improved my training.

Great Training tool Review by Touche

I'm new to swimming so trying to keep up with laps was sometimes a bit much but no more, just hit the button and go.

You improve what you measure Review by Andy

I'm a huge fan of this watch. I'm fairly new to swimming and bought it because I regularly lose track of how many laps I've done while trying to concentrate on everything else. It has proven to be remarkably accurate as far as counting laps (and even recognizing when I've switched from freestyle to backstroke). The additional information it provides on a per length basis has been surprisingly helpful. Being able to see my stroke rate per lap has helped me zero in on some problems I develop with my form as I get tired, etc. By helping me focus on stroke rate I've found it has really improved.

My only issue is that it doesn't auto-sense when I'm paused between sets. While the watch itself is very accurate, I'm less dependable and routinely forget to unpause the watch when I start my next set.

Aside from that using it is very simple. And the easy download to the internet means I can quickly transfer the data and then review it later in the day.

One final note: the watch is clearly designed to be used as a dedicated swim tool. Between the limited battery life (needs to be charged regularly), unusual shape and lack of backlight make it extremely unlikely that you will use it as your everyday watch.

Doesn't work in open water Review by Elizabeth

The Swimsense is designed for pool use only. It doesn't work in open water, as I found out after my 1st swim today that there was no distance/calories/strokes measured; only the time I swam was counted therefore there was no data for a workout to be downloaded.

My initial Swimsense USB was faulty and crashed 2 PCs 1 lap top and 1 tablet. Swim Smooth in Perth quickly sent me a replacement which sometimes the USB doesn't connect to the internet because its dock is not a tight fit.

Very Pleased Review by Roger

I have been using SwimSense for about 6 months now and have found it to be a great training aid. I get to see how my interval times and stroke counts are progressing throughout my training.

The initial watch I received had connection problems with the internet, and Finis was very quick to offer and send a replacement - which has been working real well though it still occasionally won't connect to the internet. I think the USB connection to the docking station should be a tighter fit than it is.

I would like to see them add a "kick" program to it so that you can use it while your are kicking as well. Perhaps you can wear a strap on your ankle and attach the watch to it. The watch can preseumeably be programmed to "read" the type of kick you are doing (free, back (may be hard to distinguish from free), breast, or fly, and give you your times for the kick portions of workouts. This isn't a deal-killer by any stretch. It would be a nice function to have though.

In all, I love the watch and how it helps me with my workouts and evaluatiing my performance.

Superb - With Space To Improve Review by dave

I've found the Swimsense extremely valuable as a training tool so far (4 swims). It's really nice to get some feedback on whether you've swum efficiently or not although I'd say that the whole SWOLF score system needs better and clearer explanation, and perhaps a graph to show changes over time. The lap counting feature is fantastic, especially in a 25m pool when it's really easy to lose track of time as you bounce back and forth off the walls. I'm planning on wearing it along side a Polar RCX5 to get heart rate as well while swimming to get a full picture of what's going on...if there's an ANT+ version of this product planned I'd be delighted. I'd stay with Garmin for running and cycling and Finis for everything swimming related.

The casing of the unit is alright - no more. A more involved industrial design team would have done something really nice with it. I do however really like the materials. The buttons are easy to use with wet hands, but the on screen labels for them can be hard to read. More contrast in the display, and perhaps a way to control it, would be useful.

The manufacturing quality of the device is my one real complaint. When I got my first one from Amazon I noticed that the top of the front casing had what looked like a screwdriver mark from being opened. I did think it might also have been a mark left over from clipping off of a moulding frame or sprue, and as I've now got my replacement which also features the same mark (although less severe), I'm convinced this is what's happening. I sent the first one back as I thought it had been damaged - something to take note of, folks.

Overall - I love it. Recommended for anyone who wants to track their progress over time.
