"THE BEST OF THE BEST" Review by Rich
-
The SwimMP3 is a fantastic piece of swimming equipment. Anyone who enjoys swimming either for enjoyment or sport should own one. I have been an Open Water Ocean Swimmer for many years in Maine. Almost every day during the winter months, I swim in the ocean. I wear a well fitted full wet suit and I swim out to one of several islands from one half to one mile offshore while listening to music from the Caribbean on my SwimMP3 player. There are times when the going is rough but the music is always there imparting a calming or relaxing effect! Even with a heavy wet suit hood, the music comes through loud and clear. The volume button need not be adjuster either. Simply moving slightly the Player placement near the ears works well. When ocean conditions are too rough, I swim in a lap pool. There, I always swim non stop for two hours. It would be terribly boring to do so without the SwimMP3. Although I am really hard on this device and have bought more than one because of a tired battery, I could not be without it! Buy one, read the directions and you will not be disappointed.

Great player once you sort out the kinks Review by heyhay26
-
I purchased the older version but had to return it through Finis' technical support due to battery issues. I did have to pay to ship it to them but I did not incure any additional cost after that. Within 2 weeks I received the newest version of the player. I found the instructions on the new player much easier to read and it wasn't difficult to charge or convert my itunes songs to mp3 songs and add them to the player. What I had the most difficultly with was water leaking into my googles because the SwiMP3 clips onto you googles, so there can be a gap. I tried two different pair of googles with no luck so I went on Finis' website and they claimed their googles didn't leak with the player. I called customer service and asked them that if I found that their googles leaked, can I return them? They said yes. I have used their googles with the player many times now and they truly do not leak! It has been so refreshing to not have to mess with my SwiMP3 anymore and just swim! The sound from the SwiMP3 is amazing just like listening to music through earbuds in general, where with other waterproof players the music is hard to hear and sounds like its just playing in the background. I almost gave up on this product but I'm glad I didn't.

Great Device Review by Lovethebeach
-
I loved my first Swimp3 player. Unfortunately, one of the clips broke, but it didn't hamper my use of it...I just kept it tucked under the strap of my goggles and it worked fine. The really bad part is that I was rear-ended in my car and, when it went in for repair, we left my swim bag in the car. It came back without the Swimp3 player. I am now trying to set up my new one, but getting the music on seems harder than the last time. Sitting here with the brochure open and trying to get this one to work. I love the new cap for the plug...no going to get misplaced and the recessed reset button.

I am humbled. Review by Zany1

I am amazed and humbled by the technology and the company that has developed it. Finis couldn't have been more up front and helpful. They have truly put themselves behind their product and have shown total support for the end users who have purchased them. There was a slight glitch with Mac incompatibility, but the problem has been addressed, true to word. Now I have total, hassle free, swimming with my music. A can't thank Finis enough for developing such a cool device. I am truly humbled by its genius.
I only wish they had developed it about 50 years ago. They probably weren't even born then. Ah well.....

Super customer service, mixed experience with player Review by boardtc
-
I have to give two very big thumbs up to Finis, I was gutted to loose my first set a couple of years ago by leaving it at the pool and I was absolutely stunned when the company replaced it free of charge, unheard of customer service!
My experience with the unit, especially if you break in training and do not use it for a while, is you have to be familiar with the buttons to use them easily.
The sound is thin and I find it's best not to have wordy music, I find the sound drowned out when I front crawl rather than breaststroke which is unfortunate as it's the stroke I want to be zoning out to my tunes on.
That said it's so much better than no tunes at all!

Sensational music but would love FM radio Review by Cookie
-
Like previous authors, not my first MP3 player - the previous one had earplugs, wires AND FM radio. Whilst i defs don't miss the earplugs, wires and crackly on again off again qualities of underwater earplugs, i do miss listening to news and fav radio shows whilst lapping. Apart from that, anyone who says the sound is awful must be expecting a lot from such a device. It is fantastic and i am horribly disappointed when I find I'm out of battery. The on/off can be a little tricky at times.

The ONLY player that actually Works!!!!!! Review by GraceJean
-
I've tried them all. Any of the players that have speakers or ear buds that fit into your ears (which is pretty much all the players other than the SWIMP3), will inevitably end up, probably within seconds, or minutes at the most, having all of the sound muffled. Within seconds or minutes of using the other players, the seal that their ear bud speakers make in your ear gets broken, you get water in your ears, and 90% plus of the sound is muffled and inaudible. Plus, even if you can manage to keep the seal tight for a few minutes, then you are completely isolated from everyone else in the pool...the moment you take the ear bud out of your ear to hear what someone is saying, the seal is broken, water gets in your ear, and 90% plus of the sound is muffled and inaudible.
After having tried pretty much all of the waterproof MP3 players out there, the ONLY player to consider is the Finis SwiMP3. It has a pause button that you can easily hit to talk to your fellow swimmers, and can easily hit again when you begin swimming to re-start the music. The player slips onto your goggles easily and stays there, no fussing at all, and you don't even realize that it's there. Plus, it's incredible how this works, the sound you hear when you head is in the water is fantastic.
I like working out to music, and this player is the only one that allows me to do so.
Great Job Finis SwiMP3!!!!!

Ear plugs, swimming, music? No Problem! Review by Brandon
-
If you have ever used waterproof headphones, you know how they sound. Muffled, and dull, and good luck keeping them in your ears when you are swimming laps. And the fact that I wear earplugs when I swim, pretty much make wearing headphones out of the question. The Swimp3 eliminates all problems you would have with any other music players. First of all, there is hardly any maintenance or parts to lose and replace. You dont need to buy new ear pieces or gaskets when the case seal starts wearing out. The Swimp3 provides you with everything you need the first time of purchase. Just use it, rinse it, and its ready to go for the next time. I have had my swimp3 for 2 years now and have no problems with it. The Clarity is amazing!! The buttons are simple to use, and if you setup your play lists, you will have all your music right where you need it, when you want to listen to it. I usually go through about 150 laps before I even recharge(so it probably lasts longer). This is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone, especially those who have to plug up before a swim. You'll love it!

Awesome but a little pricy Review by Paddling Harder

I'm really bummed when I forget my SwiMP3 at home. It's just not the same doing laps without my jams now. It's def a splurge, but super worth it in the end.

better than last model but still could use some improvements Review by over-chlorinated old lady
-
Hello,
this is not my first SwiMP3 player, but the other two just plain wore out from daily use. The first one had a dead battery, but the company was kind enough to replace the entire unit. The second one lasted a bit longer, but the clip broke on one side and had it not been for gorilla glue, it would have been a loss, but nonetheless it recently just died again (battery) and now I just got the new version which has a lot more space for songs, etc, but the buttons are still hard to press and I don't care for the color. Other than that, I love having music go thru my bones rather than my ears and I love that the USB cover is no longer at risk of getting lost. The company to their credit did let me upgrade by sending back my defective unit and paying less than the entire cost of a new unit so that is a plus - their generosity is why I will continue to do business with them and have faith that they will continue to improve their equipment which makes otherwise monotonous swimming fun.
